The goal in art was to draw in chalk and then colour all the white in.
I learned that if you put dye on chalk it turns black.
My next step is to do less purple and use a wider variety of colours.

Term 1 Writing

Breaking News Big Fire Destroys Port Hills. 

On the 13/2/2017 There was a Fire on the port hills.
It had brown and black smoke. There was a lot of thick smoke above the hills. It also blew towards school. The smoke covered the whole school and people were out looking. I thought more would come, but it didn't.
It was smaller then last night, but it had split into 3 fires. The firefighters were dropping buckets of water to stop the fire.
Also David Stevens a helicopter pilot crashed into the fire.
These are some Questions I have for a helicopter pilet.
1.Do you miss your family?

As a class we read the novel Best Mate by Michael Morpurgo.
The best thing about this book was when he saw Patrick again.

ANZAC Writing

From the Journal of Jack Simpson

Shrapnel Valley, Gallipoli

Today was a terrifying day because we sailed to Anzac Cove

to attack the Turks but we got surprised because they were

ready to fire their guns at us when we landed on the beach. We

climbed a very steep hill when they were firing their guns.

When we finally got to the top lots of soldiers had been shot

and wounded.  The terrifying sound of guns and bombs filled

the air.  There was blood on the ground.

I saw that one of my old school mates was injured so I rushed

over to him.  He was badly wounded .  Unfortunately on  the

way down to the beach he died.

I wish I could wear clean clothes be in my warm bed.  If only

this horrible war could end.

Maths term 2

We are learning to use directions.
We can do this when we can give and follow directions using the points of a compass - North, South East and West.

Room 2 went outside and did a treasure hunt in pairs. One person hid the treasure. They then had to give their partner instructions to find it. E.g 2 steps north... It was a fun way to practice what we had been learning in class.

Our next learning step is to identify and use other directions such as north-east, south-west etc.
